Khazrabad III 100 MW Solar Power Plant Project

The Second 100 MW Chadormalu Solar Power Plant Project is being implemented in the Khazrabad area of Yazd Province, with Chadormalu Energy Development Company (TACHCO) serving as the project owner, in cooperation with the National Development Fund of Iran and under the executive management of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA). The project aims to expand renewable power generation capacity, enhance energy supply security, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. It represents a significant step toward developing clean energy infrastructure and supporting sustainable industrial production.

With a nominal capacity of 100 MW, the power plant is being developed under an EPC+F (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Financing) contract, with a projected investment of USD 50 million and an estimated construction period of 12 months. The project design предусматри the installation of 143,360 solar panels, each rated at 715–730 watts. Once operational, the plant is expected to strengthen Yazd Province’s energy infrastructure, help meet growing electricity demand, and reduce pressure on the national power grid during peak consumption periods.

One of the key benefits of the project is its potential to supply electricity to approximately 50,000 households, helping address the energy needs of consumers across Yazd Province and reduce power outages during peak demand. Furthermore, solar power generation and reduced reliance on fossil fuels can help industrial facilities maintain operational continuity during periods of natural gas supply constraints and energy imbalances, thereby enhancing the resilience of industrial and manufacturing sectors.

  • The Khazrabad III 100 MW solar power plant project has been defined in cooperation with the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) as part of efforts to expand renewable energy capacity. The project is also planned within the framework of the national program to develop 7,000 MW of renewable power plants through resources from the National Development Fund, in line with the President’s emphasis on expanding clean energy.

    Technical Specifications

The power plant has a nominal capacity of 100 MW and is being developed under an EPC+F contract, with an anticipated construction period of 12 months. The project includes the installation of 143,360 solar panels, each with a rated output of 715–730 watts. This generation capacity will contribute to meeting a substantial portion of electricity demand while supporting the expansion of clean energy infrastructure in the region.

    Scope of Work

The project will be implemented on an 110-hectare site adjacent to Chadormalu’s first solar power plant. The execution model is planned as EPC+F (Engineering, Procurement, Construction plus Financing). The electricity generated by this plant will be sold through the Energy Exchange.

    Achievements

nhancing Electricity Supply Reliability: With the capacity to supply electricity to approximately 50,000 households, the power plant is expected to increase electricity generation capacity in Yazd Province and ease pressure on the power grid during peak demand periods.

Reducing Dependence on Fossil Fuels: Generating electricity from solar energy will reduce reliance on fossil fuels and help industrial facilities maintain production during periods of natural gas supply constraints and energy imbalances.

Environmental Protection and Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction: The plant is expected to prevent approximately 115,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually, contributing to the reduction of the environmental impacts associated with electricity generation.

Supporting Green Steel Development: Supplying part of the electricity required by industrial facilities from renewable sources will help reduce the carbon footprint of industrial production and support the transition toward green steel.

Strengthening Regional Infrastructure: In addition to expanding Yazd Province’s energy infrastructure, the project’s development in Khazrabad will support the implementation of the province’s passive defense plans and enhance the resilience of critical regional infrastructure.

Creating Employment Opportunities: The project is expected to generate approximately 400 direct jobs during the construction phase and around 40 direct jobs during the operational phase.
